Surfers often complain about their neck, shoulders, and back. You want to make sure that you have good posture (while laying on your stomach, looking up, and flapping your arms along side of a wide board), all while making sure that a tight fitting wetsuit doesn’t cause compression down on your joints and furthering the issue of alignment. You’ve also got to make sure that your hips are feeling flexible hips so that you can pop up easily. And you’re going to want really good stability throughout your legs and core to help to keep your balance for that long and wild ride. You should only be thinking about catching that wave when you’re out there on your board, so it’s a good idea to get some of these habits ingrained into muscle memory. Josie’s “Surf the Swell Real Swell” program will give you what you need to surf pain and injury free. (coming soon)
